My style
Wedding photographers will shoot in a variety of styles, the most common these days being photojournalistic. However there are a number of styles out there and I have reflected upon just three.
Wedding Photojournalism
Photographic style is as important as the quality of photography delivered. Wedding Photojournalism has become a very popular style of wedding photography and is essentially a series of candid photographs covering the events of the entire day. Wedding photojournalism appeals to the bride and groom that require a series of unique photographs designed to "tell a story" or narrate the wedding day. Wedding photography in an album.
Traditional Wedding Photography
That’s not to say that I ignore the traditional. This “timeless style”, characteristically defined as traditional wedding photography is has a predominantly posed or 'set up' look to photographs captured by the photographer. There are benefits of course to taking this approach, as traditional wedding photography will follow a 'shot list' with specific poses photographed as part of the routine, thereby not missing those important family groups.

Illustrative Wedding Photography
With the illustrative style, I think in terms of design elements by placing my subjects in settings of interesting composition and backgrounds, using great lighting. I provide the direction and the couple together with their bridal party is encouraged to interact, this results in a more spontaneous feel. Unlike the wedding photojournalism style, illustrative wedding photography brings out my 'artistic', creative and compositional skills rather than simply capturing a series of moments.
So which one of these reflects my style?
I will use all of these styles at some point throughout the day. Enabling me to capture the very essence and romance of your day, with visual impact that will impress.
